Access and equity are very important issues in vocational education and training, as is trying to ensure successful learning of students or clients with a wide range of individual differences and learning needs. Such individual differences may be normal differences relating to age, culture or stage of development or, alternatively, specific learning or physical disabilities. This subject explores the range of individual differences that are likely be encountered in the VET context and what kinds of teaching and classroom management practices are most likely to result in effective learning. A developmental psychology approach is adopted as a basis to assist in understanding the different needs of adolescent and adult learners.
