This subject specifically focuses on Torres Strait Islander issues. It aims to enable students to recognise the unique culture and philosophies of the Torres Strait Islander people. Students are introduced to the social and political history of Torres Strait Islander societies since colonisation/invasion and encouraged to analyse sociopolitical, community and educational issues, and perspectives of the Torres Strait Islander people.
