015086 Introduction to Language

6cp
Undergraduate
Subject coordinator: Jacquie Widin

In order to be an effective language and literacy teacher, it is important to develop an understanding of the nature of language and language variation. This subject aims to develop such an understanding by introducing students to the study of language. It contrasts language theories and explores their practical implications. It focuses, in particular, on a functional model of language in order to study texts that are relevant to students' work contexts.
