This subject examines relationships of education, learning and economic and social development from a global perspective, focusing in particular on the distribution of wealth and poverty. It examines competing meanings given to the notion of development and a range of perspectives on how education does and can contribute to development. Emphasis is placed on studying experiences and issues of development and education from the perspective of people from developing nations.
