Message from the Dean

Welcome to the UTS Faculty of Law. Whether you are studying at undergraduate or postgraduate level, you will find that UTS Law programs offer some distinctive aspects, including a strong professional core, a focus on the development of professional skills and a willingness to accommodate the needs of our diverse range of students, particularly those in employment.

Law is a dynamic and ever-changing discipline, and at UTS the staff in the Law faculty have a commitment to your intellectual development and the acquisition of professional skills and attributes which will serve you well in any area of employment that you choose, including, but not limited to, the practice of law.

You will have the opportunity to take part in activities outside the classroom that will add to your experience and knowledge, for example, the Community Law Centre has a vital engagement with the community and a research program that will allow you to explore dimensions of social justice in addition to those offered in other electives and core subjects. Make the most of your time here by engaging in the broad range of activities the University has to offer; UTS Law students excel at debating, sport, and everything else in between.

We hope you will enjoy the city location and vibrant community around the UTS Law faculty and wish you every success for an enjoyable and productive time with us.

Professor Jill McKeough, Dean
