This course is not offered to international students.
The Graduate Certificate in Sound is part of an articulated program in Media Arts and Production which includes film, video, multimedia, sound, radio, performance and installation, and the interplay among these media forms.
Students completing this course will have: core skills in sound design, track-laying and mixing using standard industry software; some knowledge of aesthetic and industry issues in relation to the production of sound works; and awareness of industry protocols in sound design and sound production.
Career options include sound production, sound design and radio production.
This course is part of an articulated program comprising the Graduate Certificate in Sound, the Graduate Diploma in Media Arts and Production (C06038), and the Master of Media Arts and Production (C04107).
Applicants must demonstrate a satisfactory level of education, background and capability. It is expected that applicants will have an undergraduate degree and/or professional or creative experience in a media production field and that they will have demonstrated a satisfactory level of interest and knowledge in the area of sound design.
Students who successfully complete the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma and who are admitted to a more advanced-level course in the program are eligible for recognition of prior learning for completed subjects in the more advanced course.
The Graduate Certificate in Sound is offered on a one-year, part-time basis.
The Graduate Certificate in Sound totals 24 credit points of study, consisting of three 8-credit-point core subjects.
Students undertake between 8 and 16 credit points per semester.
