Overview

This course allows students to work at a higher level of academic study. It also allows study in a particular relevant area of student interest.

Course aims

The Honours course aims to provide, through coursework and supervision, basic research competency skills and knowledge, as well as critical feedback and collegiate support necessary to enable the development and completion of an Honours thesis.

Career options

Career options include adult educator or practitioner in community adult education, training and human resource development, language and literacy education, vocational education or adult numeracy education.

Additional admission requirements

Students must meet the following requirements to enter this course:

• evidence of an Australian educational qualification, with evidence of excellence in final-year subjects
• completion of an educational research subject, with evidence of excellence in this subject, or equivalent evidence of capacity to conduct research, and
• submission of a 1,500-word essay, showing competence in written communication, outlining reasons for studying an Education Honours program and describing a research topic of interest.

Course duration and attendance

The course duration is one year of full-time study or two years of part-time study. The course is offered in block mode, requiring students to attend two blocks of classes per semester.

Course structure

The course totals 48 credit points and consists of two core subjects, an elective and a thesis.
