This course has been collaboratively developed and is jointly taught by academic staff from the Faculty of Education and the Institute for Interactive Media and Learning. It is designed to provide students with the capacity to enhance learning through new technologies, particularly web-based. It is suitable for professionals from a variety of areas including learning and development practitioners, workplace trainers and school or vocational educators. Students study and develop competence in using e-learning models, theories, technologies and design, and select electives in the areas of digital media, graphics, imagery and information.
Students discover the possibilities of and develop competence in using new technologies for innovative learning in subjects which cater, where possible, to their workplace and educational interests.
Career options include employment as a professional to teach, train and develop staff using web technology in a broad range of workplaces.
This course is part of an articulated program comprising the Graduate Certificate in e-Learning (C11171), the Graduate Diploma in e-Learning, and the Master of Arts in e-Learning (C04188).
Applicants should have an undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification. Applicants who do not have an undergraduate degree may be able to apply for special entry into the Graduate Certificate course provided they have workplace experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree, and may subsequently be able to proceed to the Graduate Diploma on merit.
While shared computing facilities are available on campus, students are strongly advised to arrange their own access to the Internet.

This course is normally completed in one-and-a-half years of part-time study, or one year of full-time study. Full-time students can complete their course in a year of study by taking one relevant approved elective, in addition to the core e-Learning subjects, in each semester.
The course is offered in mixed mode. Most coursework is carried out online but work in these subjects is supported by two to three compulsory weekend block workshops per semester.
Normally there is no mid-year intake for this course, but students interested in enrolling are advised to check with the Faculty in case circumstances change.
The Graduate Diploma in e-Learning totals 36 credit points, made up of four core subjects and two elective subjects to be chosen from CBK90310.
