The Bachelor of Arts in International Studies is not offered as a separate degree, but is completed only in combination with the professional degree program.
OverviewThis degree combines the Bachelor of Arts in Organisational Learning (C10197) with the Bachelor of Arts in International Studies. The Bachelor of Arts in Organisational Learning produces graduates who can manage organisational development and change. It develops the knowledge, skills and attributes required to work in the public or private sector to support the learning and change management activities of organisations. The combined program provides students with international experience and exposure, and the opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of a language and culture other than English.
Graduates will have a sound working knowledge of the trends and practices sought by employers in the contemporary workplace. A strong focus on information technology and the use of e-learning in organisations gives this degree currency in today's organisations. Through the combined areas of human resource development, management and international studies, students are encouraged to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes required of graduates to support organisational learning and change management activities.

This has opened a new career pathway for people who wish to work in this emerging field of practice. Career options are also enhanced by international experience, making students more marketable to prospective employers.
Admission to the combined degree is on merit according to the admissions policy for the Bachelor of Arts in Organisational Learning (C10197). There is a range of entry levels to the various Language and Culture programs. Students are admitted to the International Studies program with no guarantee of entry to a specific major, although every effort is made to meet students' preferences.
There are no prior language requirements, except for programs within the Heritage major.
The Bachelor of Arts in Organisational Learning and in International Studies is normally completed in five years of full-time study. Attendance is required full time during the day. There may be some evening classes. Students spend their fourth year of study at a university overseas.
All students must complete 240 credit points of study, comprising 144 credit points relating to the Bachelor of Arts in Organisational Learning (C10197) and 96 credit points relating to the Bachelor of Arts in International Studies.
The Bachelor of Arts in International Studies requires undergraduates to study a major – a region or country – over a minimum of three years. Students study language and culture in the second and third year.
