The Bachelor of Arts in Architecture by itself does not lead to professional recognition. To become a professional architect, students must complete this degree followed by the Bachelor of Architecture (C08001) (an additional two years of full-time study or equivalent).

Even whilst studying full-time, flexible timetabling and the option of practice-based learning subjects allow students to gain experience in the industry. Within the course, students have the opportunity to pursue areas of particular interest in depth.
This degree provides a liberal introduction to the study of architecture as a discipline. It can stand alone, and equips students well to join other design fields or related disciplines, or to go on to further academic research and study. It also has an important role in preparing students for the Bachelor of Architecture degree.
Career options include administrator, research officer or policy adviser in the field of architecture or urban design.

Mathematics and any two units of English. Physics, Visual Arts and History are recommended.
The Bachelor of Arts in Architecture is a three-year full-time (or equivalent) degree. Year 1 is recommended to be taken in full-time mode.
The course comprises a total of 144 credit points. The normal full-time load is four 6-credit-point subjects per semester, equalling 48 credit points per year for three years.
Year 1 comprises four compulsory 6 credit-point subjects per semester. Years 2 and 3 comprise one 6 credit-point elective and three compulsory subjects per semester.
